CHARACTERISTICS OF EMOTIONS
1. Emotion is universal. This is found in people of all communities.
2. Emotions manifest the attraction, repulsion and experience of person.
3. Emotion are caused by psychology reason.
4. Internal and external changes are caused by emotion.
5. Emotion create a peculiar type of disturbances.
6. Though, emotions are produced unexpectedly but presence of stable stimuli is a must for these.
7. Emotion encourage encourage the person to combat or fight in unfavourable condition but negative emotions are harmful.
DEVELOPMENT OF EMOTIONS
It has been revealed by studies that an embryo also expresses a few emotions, though owing to lack of intense stimuli, emotions are not so clear in new born child but within a few weeks of his birth, he is able to express his happiness during breast-feeding and in appropriate temperature. Similarly, he starts crying due to sudden noise, excessive heat or cold, hunger, pricking etc. Emotions develop after the child comes in contact with the environment. By the age of one year, child can express the emotions like that of an adult
Development of emotion is influenced by heredity, sex, health, nutrition, birth condition and environment etc.
SOME IMPORTANT EMOTIONS
Emotion can be simple or complex. Some emotions are specific to child nature while complex emotions develop gradually. Given below are some emotions:
1. Fear-This is an internal feeling of the person by which he tries to escape from frightening conditions. Scary sight, fear of wild animals, fear of snake, fear of dreadful sound, fear of death etc, are the fearful emotions. Man is afraid of unexpected and unknown. Readiness to face the event or the excitement reduces the possibility of fear. People suffering from mental disorders may be experiencing various types of imaginary, unnecessary or exaggerated fears.
2. Anger- This is an aggressive emotion that is caused by the obstacles in the work or in achieving the desired; or by the failures experienced by the person. Anger is harmful for the health.
3. Affection or Love- This is a complex emotion that can be mixture of materanal love, attachment, kindness, sympathy or amorous desires. Love has an important role in the personality or adjustment of the person. Expression of love can be identified by the facial expressions and behaviour of the person. Love can also be a permanent emotions.
4. Jealousy- Unhappiness and anger lead to jealousy. Unhealthy competition can also be hiding in it. Person may experience jealousy by being irritated with own failure and the success of othes.
5. Anxiety- Anxiety expresses tension. A person may fall ill due to anxiety. Anxiety is considered to be more dangerous than pyre, as it burns the person from inside and gives him sorrow and insomnia.
Happiness, sorrow, surprise, hate, depression, irritation, greed, kindness, sympathy etc. are some other types of emotions.

In previous thought, it was understood that there were six human emotions happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprise and disgust. But scientist have now found that the number is as many as 27. Emotional self- Awareness is the ability to understand your own emotions and their effects on your performance. You know what you are feeling and why- and how it helps or hurts you are trying to do.
Different networks in the brain can create the same emotions. And yes, emotions are created by our brain. It is the way our brain gives meaning to bodily sensations based on past experience. Different core networks all contribute at different levels to feelings such as happiness, surprise, sadness and anger. Of course they are, When an emotion is triggered in your brain, it sends a series of impulses all over your brain and body.
Physically, each emotion contains a program that causes very specific physiological change that ready us for action. We can sense these change physically by paying attention to our bodies. They can bring us to heights of Ecstasy down to the rocks of despair. They can blind us together or tear us apart.
Nothing is more important, with climax cast as the most coveted experience and orgiastic feelings in the world. Peaking is supposedly the greatest sensation a human can enjoy, topping all other experiences that can, including the actual sex preceding this mind blowing reaction. The emotion comes first and is universal. What kind of feeling it will them become varies enormously from person to person and from situation to situation because feelings are shaped by individual temperature and experience. Two people can feel the same emotion but label it under different names.
